History
According to legend, King Gal wanted to escape from war, so fled to a mountain to hide there. The mountain is now called by his name Mt. Gal Wang. On the mountain there were some rocky ruins of an ancient castle the King spent a night sheltered beaneath the ruins. So the town bears the name Suk Am , which means " Slept Rock " The marker stone was built in 1986. In 1986 a new express way was built from Jeong Seon to Pyoung Chang. In the area is famous for the Royal Azaleas which bloom in May and June.
